I must defend myself against a personal injury Law Suite.I have 17 days to prep. & NEED TRUE LEGAL SUGGESTIONS
I cannot afford a lawyer, and legal aid does not "do" civil law or personal injury cases/law suites. I am a Canadian.
I was served the law suite 3 days ago and have 17 days to prepare a defence (according to the law suite guidelines).
In Short: I was in a car accident Jan.2006. It is debatable to whom was at fault. My opinion is we were both at fault. We both were taken to the hospital. She "t-boned" me. Anyway, the police investigated, took a report. At the accident site she acted hysterical and the officer said he didn't understand why she was overreacting so much. He also told me that she was in a car accident just 3 weeks prior. Now she is trying to blame me for her injuries, when it is very possible that this could've started in her previous crash. Both her cars were write-offs. My insurance lapsed.
This is a very brief version of what took place.
Besides handing in my letter of "intent to defend". What do I need and how do I go about it, in order to defend myself?

My mom has a serious back injury.CA workmans comp is giving the runaround are there any resources to help her?
Since Arnold became governor, all the workmans comp cases have been re-opened. She was previosly awarded all future medical, and now nobody is policing the re-opened cases. She chose future medical treatment over a money settlement 10 years ago. She can't change lawyers now. No lawyers will take the case because there's no money in it for them and her current lawyer will not even take her calls. In the meantime, her conditions are consistently worsening due to her having to overcompensate for her back injury and lack of medical attention. She now has ankle and knee injurys requiring surgery. She received back surgery for her L5,S1 fusion and her L4 is out. The workmans comp insurance won't cover anything. Multiple doctors agree she needs attention. She has assumed an incredibly large debt and is undergoing the legal runaround. The workmans comp insurance owes her money for pharmaceuticals they were to pay for, her lawyer seems to be on their side. Does anyone have advice?

Statue of limitations for Personal Injury, an attorney filed a complaint for me in my county?
which is in Southern California on my behalf back in 2003 for personal injury against the City County and Sheriffs Department of that county. The reason was due to an injury I sustained while being arrested, my hand became numb due to a handcuff injury (handcuffs were placed on to tight, I even have a scar), I saw two orthopedic doctors and all one did was take xrays and said he found no permanent damage, the other said he concurred with the first.

The lawyer could not do anything because the doctors supposedly found nothing, so I left it at that.

I however continue to suffer from a numb hand, its my right hand, there is also weakness when I try to carry something heavy or try making a fist.

I really think the doctors lied and didnt want to get involved because it was a suit against the local police and city and county. I think I made a mistake and should have seeked a lawyer and doctor from out of town.

My question is this, I know there is a 2 years statute of limitations
for filing a suit, does this apply to doing anything at all? reason is I did file a complaint withing the right time, however nothing came about it, can I reopen the case or have another attorney take over since it was never closed?

Lawyer settlement amount?
Okay so I recently got into a car accident, I was sent to get an MRI, and that's when they informed me, that I have a herniated disc and a protruding disc on my lumbar (lower) part of my back, and that I have 3 swollen disc and one herniated disc on the cervical (upper where my neck is) part of my back. I am going to see the orthopedic this upcoming Wednesday. I have a lawyer already because they didn't want to pay my medical bills when I called myself, well now that they found out I have a lawyer they agreed to pay my medical bills, but now I'm going to sue the guy for the accident, if anyone knows I'm just curious, how much does a settlement for something like this kind of injury will I get back approx. a range.
