Police Officer- Lawyer- District Attorney DUI Help Please?
I got a DUI around a week ago. I have an Appt with the best lawyer in the town I got it in. Im getting a little anxious about the possible outcomes. I am guilty of it and the evidence is strong but it isnt foolproof. There was a wreck w/o any injuries. I havent yet spoke with my lawyer b/c he apparently is very good and booked for a few weeks.

I have 7 years Military(4 active marines) ,3 w/ National Guard, and my unit was just alerted for a Deployment in the 12 months.

My question is for current or former Lawyers or Police officers. Are there any type of plea bargains that I may possibly get? I am just trying to get a handle on the possible convictions and punishments.
Just to clear things up for those who were generous enough to answer… It is my first, and last DUI. I blew a .11. I was completely cooperative with the officer and did well on the field sobriety tests. My record includes some speeding tickets and a retarded 2nd degree tresspassing (pjc) that i got 10 years ago. The DUI was in NC.

What assets could not be tapped in an automobile accident where damage is over bodily injury?
I was in an automobile accident, seemed limited with little damage. Yet, the other party have hired a lawyer and my bodily injury liability is 15k/30k per incident. If the other party wants to come after my assets, are there any protected such as 401k, current auto, etc. What is the best way to protect myself? I'll probably get a lawyer soon but thought I'd ask here to get a sense of what I'm up against.
Thanks for any advice from someone who might have been through similar.

Ok, so I spoke with my Workers Comp lawyer and it turns out that everyone else is wrong?
My employer where I was injured a year and a half ago, is NOT obligated to hire me back, find me a position, or even pay me at the same rate I was receiving at the time of injury. Either my lawyer sucks, or everyone else I have been speaking to is wrong. If my lawyer is wrong, how do I find this out? Sadly, It seems to me that Workers Comp does not do much to protect the injured. I have to reapply at my former employer, submit a resume, go through the interview process and try to get hired all over again and possibly have to start at the beginning all over again with money per hour.
This is NY state and my lawyer said that NY laws state that they can hire and fire for any reason.

i had been robbed and called they aressted a guy and blew me off and when i said i would just call another cop they gave me every tickect they could think of but i beat all the charges and the FBI is investigating.but my back was a serious permant injury that canot be fixed and will have to be on heavy pain meds for life.

Is it ok to call your lawyer-case manager for update-status about your case?
Is it ok to call your lawyer for update about your case and what direction it is going. At the beginning of may i hired a lawyer to represent me in a case(premise liabilty, Personal Injury). They only called me twice since I hired them and they never let me know what is going on with my case. Is it ok to call my case manager and ask him about the status of my case? Seems like they arent even working on it or something. Anyone have this same problem?

Lawyer holding settlement check?
My sister is 19 years old and she was in a car accident, she was awarded 10,000 for bodily injury. Her lawyer had her come to his office and sign the back of the check, stating that he had to deposit it into his account then deduct 3300 for his fees then cut her another check in 4 days. It has been a week and when she called he stated that he had to first pay the hospital bills before he gives her the check. We called the hospital and they stated that her health insurance has already covered all of the medical bill, so there is no bill out there. My question is what can she do to make sure the lawyer is not pocketing money that is rightfully hers and just saying that he is paying medical bills, also was she supposed to sign the check over to him and around how much of it should she recived considering ther aren't any outstanding bills?

Settling on lawsuit and our lawyer is not getting us what he said he would in the beginning?
About 2 yrs ago my wife got injured at work and was fired shortly after. We got a lawyer who said we had a good case. She has been to many docters and none know what is wrong with her(its a back injury). The lawyer told us that it would be wise to settle out of court and that he would not settle until he got 3 yrs worth of pay and then the cost of all medical bills we have gotten from this. We are a couple weeks away from it being over and the lawyer tells us he got us about a yrs worth of pay and they will pay for a couple bills on top of that. Then we have to pay court costs, lawyer fees and all other medical bills out of that yrs worth of pay. We feel we are getting screwed over on this deal and are unsure of what to do at this point if anybody can be any help please let me hear. The worst part is Im in Iraq right now and my wife doesnt want to ask the guy questions that need to be asked. So let me hear your thoughts I appreciate it.
This is all happening in michigan. And it is a workers comp. case. She was fired while on workers comp. She went to a docters appt. and they drug tested her five months after she was injured. Her work did not and still does not require a drug test to get hired and she failed the drug test and was fired because of that. They then stopped paying workmens comp. obviously.
